Looks like I missed my chance to visit the Starbucks in the Forbidden City
Starbucks has closed a coffeehouse in China’s former imperial palace, the company said Saturday, ending a seven-year presence that sparked protests by Chinese critics who said it stained the image of a key historical site.
Always thought the Starbucks there was a bit out of place. But then all the other odd little shops there seemed tacky as well. Still, if you ever get the chance, the Forbidden City is not to be missed.
